The MISSION of the House of Culture and Soul Folklore Academy is to create magic in one's soul through the radical voice of Truth, Justice and Righteousness. This is facilitated through the anthropological study of Dance, Music and Theater.

HOCAS was FOUNDED and under the direction of Angela Ingram. She began her dance career at the age of nine in ballet, jazz, tap, and Hawaiian. Her passion for dance and movement led her to study intensely with Alvin Ailey, Frank Hatchet and Fred Benjamin. Angela is particularly drawn toward traditional dance. She frequently travels to Brazil and Cuba to further her cultivation in Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban folkloric dance, samba and rumba.
